The Public Legal Information Association of NL (PLIAN) is seeking a dynamic and independent student to work for us this summer, in the position of Youth Justice Camp Coordinator. The hired student will be responsible organizing and facilitating at least two Youth Justice Camps in St. John’s and another location in Newfoundland and/or Labrador. Some travel will likely be required for the position. The student will also be responsible for fundraising for the Youth Justice Camps, organizing guest speakers, recruiting volunteers to assist in the camp, and other duties related to running the Youth Justice Camps.
The student will also be expected to assist with other ongoing PLIAN projects, including researching, developing, and editing legal information publications; assisting in the development and delivery of legal information presentations; supporting proposal development for future projects; managing PLIAN’s social media accounts; assisting with office and administrative tasks where needed; potentially assisting in answering client inquiries on PLIAN’s Legal Information Line and Lawyer Referral Service; and completing other tasks as requested by the Executive Director and Office Manager.
Preference will be given to a student currently pursuing a law degree, or some level of legal education. Interest in the law and education is a requirement. The duration of the position is 8 weeks, based on 35 hours a week, and is anticipated to commence on June 12.
